Flat-bed dies

|
Along with the standard high quality dies that are manufactured at Apollo Dies, we do various types of specialised dies. Some of the services we offer are
|
|
Embossing block dies

|
These are highly precise, laser cut dies used for Embossing images onto packaging either on blank panels or within the limits of predefined images that need to be enhanced on the final product. The accuracy of these dies is of the utmost importance and the margin for error is miniscule. For this reason, we employ the use of high precision laser cutting equipment and automatic Rule bending machinery, both combined with highly skilled staff to create these tools.

Bobst dies

|
Bobst dies are units that comprise of: A - The die, B - The Female stripping units, C - The Male stripping units, D – Grip separators. Combined together, these units form a complete Bobst unit. These units are then placed in automated machinery, which both cuts and strips the substrate, to leaving behind the final product. These units can be intricate to manufacture and has to fall within the tolerance of each individual machine.
We offer services to manufacture dies for the use in Bobst applications. At Apollo Dies, the entire die and stripping unit is made as a complete set and supplied to the customer.
Again, using the wealth of knowledge at our disposal, the manufacturing of these units follows a tightly monitored procedure that ensures the most efficient method of producing these units with the highest standards set by Apollo Dies.

Automotive dies
|
Automotive cutting formes require highly precise tools and techniques to be implemented to producing these knives. These are used by the motor industry to cut and cater for large volumes of product which are used in the vehicles that people purchase every day. Due to our high standards, we at Apollo dies offer this service as part of our repertoire and our standards and quality are of the highest degree.

Rotary dies

|
Rotary dies are cylindrical dies which are used on a Rotary press to cut material to produce the final product. Rotary dies have its own set of advantages in the die cutting industry and require accurately made tools to perform their respective functions.
At Apollo Dies, we have a fully functioning Rotary die-making department, dedicated to manufacture these high quality tools. As with flat-bed dies, we incorporate the use of laser- cutting equipment to manufacture these products to our high standards.
We have the ability to manufacture rotary dies of varying diameters.

High Frequency Dies
|
High frequency dies are specialised units that require high levels of expertise to manufacture. Due to the nature of the use of the die, the main materials used are Aluminium and High Frequency Brass. These types of units are used to both cut and seal vacuum formed materials into the shape as desired by the customer.

Laser cutting – plastic, metal, wood

|
Not only does Apollo Dies produce high quality knives, we also offer laser cutting services.
Due to the accuracy of the laser, intricate designs of small to large quantity can be laser cut to exact specifications of individual customers. Our skilled designers will create an efficient layout to maximise the full sheet area hence getting the most out with little wastage.
Popular materials we can accommodate are:
-
Plastics: PETG (up to 6 mm), PET (up to 6 mm), Plexiglas/Acrylic (up to 10 mm), ABS (up to 6 mm), PST (up to 6 mm), UHI (up to 6 mm)
-
Wood: Plywood, MDF, Masonite (all of varying thickness)
All materials used must be Laser compliant

Die- Cutting services
|
Due to the success of the core die-making services, a die- cutting service was established to offer our clients a complete service, from the initial design phase all the way to the complete product.
This kind of business system allows our customers to have the option of having all their packaging needs met at one convenient location, hence saving them time and money and maximising profits.
At our die- cutting facilities, we have both cylinders and platen press machinery:
For large quantity runs, we utilise tried and tested Hydelberg cylinders can handle sizes of (820 x 550mm) and (900 x 640mm) respectively.
With our platen’s, we can handle corrugated and plastics up to a maximum size of (2000 x 1250 mm).
*Complete finishing of jobs are available on request.

Vacuum forming (Thermoforming) services

|
Another service offered is our vacuum forming services.
Vacuum forming is a technique used to shape plastics to conform to the shape of the desired mould, using heat and vacuum suction in order to form the end product to a desired shape.
The machinery owned by Apollo Dies can accommodate the following forming sizes:
-
940mm X 580mm X 200mm depth
-
960mm X 460mm X 200mm depth
-
900 X 1300mm X 300mm depth
Examples of materials used:
-
PST ( 0.75mm, 1mm, 1,5mm, 2mm, 3mm)
-
UHI ( 0.75mm, 1mm, 1,5mm, 2mm, 3mm)
-
PVC (up to 300 micron)
-
Ampalite (up to 5mm)

Heat bending and finishing

|
Heat bending services are available on request as well.
Heat bending is the shaping of material (plastic) using high heat formers that create simple shapes for various applications.
Examples: Plastic leaflet holders, display moulds for stores
